EVERYDAY PEACEMAKING PODCAST

The Everyday Peacemaking Podcast, co-hosted by Osheta Moore and Jer Swigart, features vulnerable conversations about the habits, heartaches, and hopes of Everyday Peacemaking.

In each episode, Osheta and Jer offer practical insights stemming from their real-world experiences. Through peacemaking lenses, they and their guests explore topics like:

  • navigating ideological divides
  • bridging differences within our families and friendships
  • fighting like peacemakers for our own mental health
  • forging uncommon friendships
  • raising young peacemakers
  • disagreeing with courage and compassion
  • integrating our faith in to our peacemaking practice
  • contributing to the peace and prosperity of our cities
  • influencing and inviting others into the work of repair
  • finding sustainability in our formation and practice
  • choosing generosity with self and others
  • responding to the crises and current events of our time

Listener beware! This podcast gets honest, gritty, and downright practical. We don’t have all the answers…but we do have the courage to explore the questions and experiment toward peace.

So come along with us as we grow our imaginations for joining God and others in mending divides.

Pastor, speaker, mother, wife: Osheta Moore is passionate about peacemaking, racial reconciliation, and community development in the urban core. Osheta (pronounced o-she-da, and no, it doesn’t mean anything, she says, “my dad just made it up”) serves as Pastor of Community life at Roots Covenant Church alongside her husband. Osheta is passionate about equipping the church to be everyday peacemakers. She is the author of "Shalom Sistas," an invitation to women to practice the Hebraic concept of Shalom in their everyday lives, and her most recent book and "Dear White Peacemakers," is a love letter to White Christians on their anti-racism peacemaking journey. She is also completing her two-year program to become a Spiritual Director so that she can help equip peacemakers with practices and prayers for the journey. Osheta has “flying in a hot-air balloon” at the top of her bucket list, and she is firmly convinced that everything is better after a nap. Follow Osheta on Instagram @oshetamoore for encouragement to practice everyday peacemaking and invitations for White Peacemakers on their journey towards anti-racism.

Dr. Jer Swigart is the co-founder of Global Immersion. He seeks to learn, love, and lead in ways that disarm violence, bridge difference, and awaken imaginations to restorative possibilities. He focuses on leadership formation, particularly with leaders and teams who have become disillusioned by the incongruence between the values of western Christianity and those of Jesus. In addition to his participation in local and national justice and reconciliation commissions, Jer is a North American contributing member of the Reconcilers Together Alliance, a Pepperdine Cross Sector Leadership Fellow, and a Senior Fellow of the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Institute. He holds an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Leadership in Global Perspectives from Portland Seminary. As the co-author of Mending the Divides: Creative Love in a Conflicted World, a speaker, facilitator, and consultant, he often reflects on the intersection of faith, leadership, and conflict transformation. Jer and his family live in the Pacific Northwest, USA.
