Role Description
Reporting to the Director of Formation, the Communications Manager will be responsible for the enhancement and implementation of Global Immersions communication strategy and refining the organization’s voice and presence in the digital world. You will build on our existing communications strategy, directly managing communications activities that market our programs, promote everyday peacemaking practices and reinforce/protect our brand. You are the brand guardian and must ensure that everything shared on our platforms is in alignment with our visual and messaging brand. The goal is to advance the organization’s position with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness, engagement and donor support for the organization.
Hours + Location
- 20 hours per week
- Remote (The rest of our team is on the West Coast. You would not need to keep West Coast working hours, but will need to accommodate West Coast meeting times.)
Communications Strategy, Vision and Leadership
- Strengthen and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance Global Immersion’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences
- Create marketing and growth strategy for Global Immersion’s newest initiative, the Everyday Peacemaking podcast.
- Track engagement across platforms and assist the leadership team in making data-driven decisions.
- Create communications/marketing strategy that will allow Global Immersion leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted audiences.
- Work with the leadership team to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
Communications Operations
- Prepare and manage all communications material and strategy
- Current Online channels/programs that will be included in the strategy:
- Social (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Email Newsletter
- Website
- Everyday Peacemaking Podcast
- Webinars
- Current Online channels/programs that will be included in the strategy:
- Create or manage the creation of digital, video and print content.
- Manage relationships with associated contract workers.
- Manage website content and updates. (custom WordPress site)
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting and planning
Communications Manager Skills/Qualifications
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies.
- Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilized.
- Understanding of graphic design, layout, and publishing.
- Impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities.
- Proficient with social media platforms and knowledge of social media marketing.
- Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords (not required, but a plus).
- Excited and motivated by growing online audiences
- Familiarity with Canva and WordPress (not required but a plus).
