A 3-Session Workshop with Dr. David Gushee & Dr. Jer Swigart

A 3-Session Workshop with Dr. David Gushee & Dr. Jer Swigart

Many of us have grown suspicious, even cynical, of the Christian religion we’ve inherited.

We’re witnessing the theological, sociological, and ecological divides widen within our contexts and country. We’re becoming disillusioned by the task of preserving a faith that promises liberation, transformation, and restoration while promoting an ethic of consumerism, exploitation, and domination. We’re watching those we love utilize reconstructions of Scripture, Jesus, and history as justifications for antidemocratic violence. We’re searching for a Christian faith where justice and peacemaking don’t replace Jesus but are natural outcomes of following him.

In his soon-to-be-released book, Defending Democracy from Its Christian Enemies, our friend and co-conspirator, Dr. David Gushee, helps us understand the religion we’ve inherited and the role it has played in compromising democracy. Equally important, he casts a vision for a faith that’s worth our lives.

He and Global Immersion’s Dr. Jer Swigart are combining forces in a live, virtual, three-session workshop fusing the themes of the book with training around the following questions.

Session 1: October 18 @ 9pET/6pPT
Session 2: November 7 @ 9p/ET/6pPT (Election Day)
