10/10/2018 | WEBINAR : Lamenting Patriarchy: An honest conversation among white men on how we can and must do better

Peacemakers have to transcend the partisan shouting matches that lead to shaming each other rather than understanding each other. Peacemakers also have to interrogate any status quo that values some people over and above others. Patriarchy is one such status quo. It has to be confronted theologically and practically if we are going to participate with God in restoring our broken world. While we may agree that women and men are inherently equal as image bearers of God, patriarchy has been woven into the fabric of our faith, politics & communities. Like any disease, if it goes unchecked, it will kill us. … and let’s be clear, it is killing us. But, we have an opportunity to be healed, and with healing comes new life.

This webinar will be an honest conversation with three white men who have benefited from patriarchy and are on the journey toward healing. Hosted by author, leadership coach and Global Immersion team member, Christiana Rice, we will ask hard questions about how patriarchy has informed both our understanding and experience of our faith, our values, and our institutional structures. Finally, we will get really tangible about ways we (as men) can begin to break free from it’s chains and move toward our collective healing. What if our best days are yet to come?
